The Outback region covers 832,000 square kilometres, which is 48% of all of Queensland, 12% of Australia, or 30,000 square kilometres larger than New South Wales!

It encompasses the Local Government areas of Barcaldine Regional, Barcoo, Blackall-Tambo Regional, Boulia, Bulloo, Cloncurry, Diamantina, Flinders, Longreach Regional, McKinlay, Mount Isa City, Murweh, Paroo, Quilpie, Richmond and Winton.
